A Vision of Yourself

Having a vision of yourself is the starting point for any transformative change. A strong enough vision can move mountains and make people completely transform who they are.

The concept of “Deep Health” looks at seeing the big picture around yourself, from daily actions to the level of existential meaning, understanding that it is all woven together. I propose an exercise into asking yourself some questions to build a vision:

Try to imagine the best possible version that you can conceive of yourself:

- What qualities would that person have?

- How would that person’s emotions and thoughts be like?

- What would that person’s physical appearance be like?

- How would that person’s day look like?

- How would his/her relationships be like?

- What kind of impact would that person have on his/her family?

- How would that person impact their community?

Now paint a realistic picture of where you are right now in these, without guilt or judgment. Think about all of the things that are getting in your way of getting closer to that vision. Name them, nothing is too trivial. Make a list. Start tackling whatever feels doable to you at the moment. Build on that.

Strength training can be much more than just lifting weights to look a certain way (although that is a welcome byproduct), it can be about strengthening your character and spirit, and promoting healthy movement.

Kettlebells are a wonderful tool because of their versatility and portability. With a corner of your house and some simple, yet deep, exercises you can elicit a big transformation while minimizing the constraints. After all, everyone has 20-30 minutes to spend in a corner of their house.

If you are looking for change, get some kettlebells and practice:

  • Kettlebell Floor Presses

  • One Arm Supported Rows

  • Goblet Squats

Sixty to Ninety weekly minutes of that will give you more results than you can imagine. If you need help learning, I can teach you how.
